It is an open air pre historic site that situated south face of the Awash River gorge opposite Melka Awash. It is Classify as one of the most significant stone- age site in Ethiopia. It was first recognized in 1963 by G.Dekker. There were two phases of excavation have been taken place between 1965 and 1981, and between 1991 and 1995.
The site is known that the place where the remains of extinct animals are found. Moreover, the place is very abundantly rich with several homo-erectus fossils and date back between 1.5 and 2 million years.
