The Erbore or Hor
The Hor (Erbore) are part of lowland east Cushitic people inhabiting in the Weyto plain and shared their border in the north with Tsemako, with Borena in the northeast, Kenya in the south and with Hamer in the west. There are four territorial groups, which the Gandarab and Kulam are the southern group and named Erbore and Murale and Egude,are called Marle. The annual average rainfall is between 200 and 600mm.
The Hor are agro-pastoralist mainly depending for their livelihood on flood plain cultivation. They grow sorghum, maize and beans in the delta of the River Limo. And the cultivation is the responsibilities of married men.
The cattle camps are considered as place of adolescents; so ritual and political chiefs are not allowed to go into the cattle camps.
Each territorial group has age group system and generation system group has one ritual chief (kawot). Their belief are in ancestral spirits, evil eye, waaq(god) etc.
